'Why ruin a good thing?' Kenyans really do not want Arimi's to change its look

There is no middle ground with Kenyans on Twitter (KOT); they either love with a passion or hate, with the same amount of passion.

Most of the time, they will always be at different ends of an argument. Which means, when you see them united towards a particular cause, you definitely know things have hit the fan.

This was exactly the situation on Wednesday after an artist’s impression of what she imagined would be a nice new design of Arimi’s milking jelly went viral.

Nanzia Hellena, going by @thetriggahappy1, caused a stir on Twitter after she posted the new designs and wrote;

“I did the unthinkable. I decided to rebrand your favorite brand as a slightly premium product. This is a passion project, I hope you like it.”

Like it, however, Kenyans did not.

Despite acknowledging that the designs were pretty awesome, #KOT warned Hellena to touch literally everything else but stay away from their favourite product.

According to them, the Arimi’s brand is just not the same without the image of the cow that is usually on the current design which was designed some decades ago, something the artist completely erased from her impression.

Below are some of the reactions from KOT:

“…definitely super talented but it’s just not Arimis without our beloved cow. That cow is a key feature of this our national treasure.” – Patricia Kihoro

“Stop it. We don’t want a rebrand.” – Wayua Muli

“Your work is dope, but please, tuwachane na Arimis vile iko tu. The joy is in knowing you’re using a milking salve as the best skin care solution. Kama ng’ombe hazijacomplain, pia sisi hatucomplain.” – Naomi Mutua

“Did nobody tell them part of the allure is the cheap looking plastic jar with the ka picture of the cow on it.” – Doudou

“Sioni ng’ombe, how is it Arimis?” – Otieno Ronny

“Unrecognizable. I don’t think this will be good for business. Ng’ombe ako wapi?” – Shanbo
