Skits, dances, team introductions and and a celebrity guest: this is how basketball practice at the University of Kansas (KU) opens.

However, this year’s opening was a massive flop according to the Kansas City Star.

Though an appearance by American rapper Snoop Dogg was bound to be off the charts, strippers on poles reportedly caught officials off guard.

During his performance, the rapper spewed profanity as he cocked money guns with fake $100 (Ksh.10,000) bills.

Kansas athletics director Jeff Long has since apologized over the unexpected show.

“We apologize to anyone who was offended by the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night. I take full responsibility for not thoroughly vetting all the details of the performance and offer my personal apology to those who were offended,” he said.

Long added:”We strive to create a family atmosphere at Kansas and fell short of that this (Friday) evening.”

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has since sent the university a Notice of Allegations for multiple Level 1 violations.

However, on Wednesday, Snoop Dogg was unapologetic saying fans enjoyed themselves.

“…when you pay for Snoop Dogg, you gon’ get Snoop Dogg,” he told TMZ in an interview.

According to him, they invited him knowing that that is how his performances usually are.
