What Ali Kiba said about Diamond will surprise you

Despite the widely shared perception that the two are arch rivals, Tanzanian singer Ali Kiba has said he is open to recording a song with Diamond Platnumz, going as far as calling the Utanipenda crooner a “good artiste”.

Speaking in a recent radio interview with Tanzania’s Gardner G. Habash, Kiba stated that he will hit the studios with Diamond when the right time comes.

“Diamond is a good artiste. He does good songs,” said Kiba.

“If an opportunity to record a collabo with Diamond comes up, I will take part in it. I will do that with a clean heart,” said the Chekecha Cheketua star.

Gardner Habash and his co-host offered to foot all expenses that would be incurred during the production of the big hit.

Despite these sentiments, you should not start counting down to the collabo just yet as Ali Kiba stated that he would not like a “forced” partnership. He would much rather have an “organic” collabo.

“I believe that projects that are arranged often do not go well. Spontaneity will work for us (Diamond and Kiba). Musical composition has to be provoked from within. I believe a project forced by pressure factors does not come out as well as one that is done voluntarily,” said Kiba.

Battle of the Bongo Kings

Addressing his much rumoured difference with Diamond, Kiba likened the music industry to a roller coaster that is very unpredictable – and that only the resilient survive.

He further implied that his ‘beef’ with Diamond is just one of the challenges faced by artistes targeting the same market.

“Music as an art follows a particular path; just like vehicles do. The path has its roughness. Low chassis cars cannot effectively navigate the murky path – only trailers would,” he said.

For a while now, Kiba and Diamond have been perceived as long-term nemeses that don’t see eye to eye.

However, that could be far from the truth as Diamond gave a live performance of Kiba’s hit Mwana, last year November – a rendition that generated positive feedback from fans.

And going by Kiba’s recent revelation, we could probably be treated to a mega hit by the two gifted showbiz kings.

Let’s wait and see.
