'Tinder Swindler' victims' set up GoFundMe page, hope to raise Ksh. 77Million

Appearing on the hit documentary "The Tinder Swindler" Ayleen, Pernilla and Cecilie, claimed that Shimon Hayut, who posed as Simon Leviev, presented himself as a wealthy man and robbed them of thousands of dollars.

The GoFundMe page, which was created on Sunday February 6, has so far accumulated Ksh. 8 Million (£65,069) with the ultimate goal of Ksh. 77 Million (£600,000).

According to the statement on the page, the three women started the fundraiser after many sympathizers reached out to them with the idea.

The alleged victims also said that since the story broke out, they have unexpectedly received a lot of support and compassion from a lot of people.

“You’re probably here because you’ve heard about our story, and we appreciate you taking the time to search and find this page.” 

“After careful consideration, and many chats, we have decided to start this GoFundMe fundraiser. So many people reached out to us asking if we had one, and it hadn’t occurred to us to make one prior to this. However, we’ve spotted plenty of fakes, which makes us uneasy. We don't want more people getting defrauded,” Read the statement

“The past few days have been a whirlwind, and we three (Ayleen, Pernilla and Cecilie) have been completely shocked and floored by the flood of compassion and support from everyone. The sheer love is more than we ever expected, and we appreciate you all so much,” The statement read.

The women further revealed that all they want is to go back to their normal lives before the alleged incident happened.

“We realize there are a thousand other worthy causes to donate to, and remain forever grateful if you choose to donate to this one. All we want are our lives back.”

Hayut, who allegedly wooed the three women through Tinder, has since been permanently deleted from the dating app.
