Nameless pays tribute to E-sir, 19 years after his tragic death

It has been 19 years since the passing of Kenya’s musical legend, E-Sir, who died in a tragic car accident on March 16, 2003.

At just 21 years old, E-sir had already left a huge impact on the Kenyan music industry, leaving behind hit songs such as ‘Moss moss,’ ‘Hamnitishi,’ and ‘Boomba train,’ among others.

Singer Nameless, who was E-sir’s good friend and also collaborated with him to produce one of the most recognizable songs in the country, ‘Boomba Train’ shared a picture of him via Instagram and said he loves and misses him.

He was keen to note that E-sir was and still remains a great inspiration to Kenyan artists.

“19 years since you left us, 16 March 2003...love and Miss you bro!! You still inspiring the new generation with your awesomeness! Fam, what's your favorite Esir Jam...mine was MossMoss , Leo ni leo and of course Boomba ...Find all Esir songs on all streaming platforms!” wrote Nameless.

Last year as he was eulogizing the late crooner, Nameless, had recalled the terrible accident.

The 'Coming Home' singer said that the car had lost control as they were looking at a view of Lake Elementaita.

He said in part: "We performed the night before, and we were all rested. We departed from Nakuru at around 11am and got distracted by the view of Lake Elementaita for a quick second. That was the last conversation we had. The car had started to veer off the road, and when the driver tried to get back to the road, he lost control, and we rolled a couple of times. Apparently, E-Sir did not have his safety belt on at the time,”

Nameless in eulogizing E-sir said 'even long after his death, his music and legacy still lives on and on in our hearts.' "On this day, a dark cloud covered our skies as we lost one of Kenya's finest and most gifted musicians to ever hold the microphone. His lyrical delivery and command of the Swahili flow was unmatched. Even long after his death, his music and legacy still lives on and on in our hearts. We miss you bro, till we meet again," he added.

Fellow singer Wahu, also took to her Instagram Page and thanked E-sir for sharing his gift and inspiring others to pursue music nineteen years later.

“19 years today. But forever in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. For inspiring so many to follow their dreams. For just being you....a really nice guy who became south C's, and indeed Kenya’s finest.”

We love and miss you. Forever in our hearts,” wrote Wahu.
