Malawi approaches Mike Tyson to be the country's Bhang Ambassador

The Malawian Ministry of Agriculture has written to former American professional boxer Mike Tyson to become the Cannabis branch ambassador for Malawi.

Malawi decriminalized the use of Cannabis in 2018, following in the footsteps of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho and South-Africa.

According to BBC News, Lobin Lowe, Minister of Agriculture, stated in a letter dated November 1 that the Cannabis industry is currently benefiting, but that given the industry's complexity, they would like to collaborate with other players.

“In spite of all these perceived benefits, Malawi may not go it alone as the industry is complex requiring collaboration. I would therefore like to appoint you, Mr Mike Tyson, as Malawi’s Cannabis Branch ambassador,” Lowe wrote.

Mike Tyson was scheduled to visit Malawi last week, but his trip was postponed, according to reports.

Mike Tyson, who owns a 40-acre marijuana ranch in California, has been in the cannabis business since 2016 under the brand Tyson Holistic.

According to Forbes, the former boxer has also launched Tyson 2.0, a cannabis company that will be "a step up."
