Lupita Nyongo: On this Mashujaa day, I'm honoring Agnes Tirop
Lupita who joined Kenyans in celebrating heroes and heroines who have and continue to shape Kenya's history said she was celebrating Tirop as her hero.
“On this mashujaa day, I am honoring Agnes Tirop. Just months ago, we celebrated Agnes as she represented Kenya at the Olympics.” She Tweeted.
Tirop was found dead at her family home, a month after she broke the women's 10-km world record in Germany.
Ibrahim Rotich, her husband, was arraigned on Monday on suspicion of her murder during his first appearance in court in the Rift Valley town of Iten, close to their shared home.
Police told the court they would use the time to complete investigations and to carry out tests on the suspect to determine if he is mentally competent to stand trial.
Detectives arrested Rotich on Thursday in the coastal city of Mombasa, saying he was trying to flee the country. Neither Rotich, nor his representatives, have made any public comments on the case.
