Oscar award-winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has been appointed brand ambassador of the House of Chanel following her attendance at the Spring- Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear show in France on Tuesday.

The fashion powerhouse said that Nyong'o's appointment amplifies their willingness to fully embrace diversity and inclusivity.

Lupita shared the news on Instagram, thanking the brand for her appointment.

“I am deeply honoured to share that I am now a global brand ambassador for the House of Chanel. It was wonderful to attend their Spring- Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear at the Grand Palais today. Merci beaucoup @chanelofficial!, ” she wrote on Tuesday.

Nyong'o further expressed confidence in making a remarkable change in fashion as she takes on her new role.

“The message that I bring naturally and deliberately to the role is that things have changed. And we don’t want them to go back to what they once were,” she told AP News.

Her appointment comes as Chanel has been under fire for its lack of inclusivity which led to the subsequent appointment of Fiona Pargeteras the first Head of Diversity and Inclusion in 2020 and British-Indian Leena Nair as the global chief executive in 2022.
