Lupita Nyong’o honored in the 2016 power women issue
Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has been honored by a US publication, Variety Magazine, in its 2016 power women issue.
Lupita, The Force Awakens cast member, will be recognized for her work on Mother Health International for Africa Relief which helps pregnant women and children in need.
Touching on her project on Mother Health International for African Relief, Lupita, during an interview with Variety Magazine, pointed out that it is a tragedy that women’s bodies are used as tools of war.
“When that happens, the trauma of war affects birthing. Mortality rates of children are so high and mothers die at such a high rate in these areas,” she added.
She, however, is not alone in the list; Julianne Moore, Vera Wang, Misty Copeland and Megyn Kelly have also been honored in the 2016 power women issue.
The power women issue celebrates the philanthropist efforts of industry leaders in the world.
Apart from being featured in the magazine, Lupita Nyong’o, plus the other four will be honored at an event known as 2016 Power of Women in New York on April 8th, 2016.
Meanwhile, the 12 years a slave award winning actress dazzled many with her gorgeous look during the world premiere of the film, The jungle book which was at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles
In the film, Lupita Nyong’o voices the character of Raksha the wolf.
The cast of the film such as Ritesh Rajan, Giancarlo Esposito, and Ben Kingsley were also in attendance, just to name but few.
