Jay-Z, Lady Gaga among top Hollywood stars snubbed by the Oscars

This year’s Academy awards saw Jane Campion, the ‘Power of the Dog’ director become the first woman to be nominated more than twice under the best directors list.
Legendary actor Denzel Washington broke his own record of the most nominated black actor in history by receiving his tenth nomination for the film ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’.
However, several actors who had top level performances in their films did not make it into the list of this years’ Academy Awards.
Lady Gaga
The ‘A Star is Born’ Oscar winner was poised to earn a second best actress nomination this year for her stellar performance in ‘House of Gucci’ after receiving early praise from social media.
However, Lady Gaga who played Patrizia Reggiani, did not receive any nod in this years’ Oscars.
Ben Afleck
American actor Ben Afleck was in the ring for his role in two films, ‘The Tender Bar’ and ‘The Last Duel’. He failed to clinch either.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Hollywood actor DiCaprio was in the running to receive his seventh Oscar nomination for the hit film ‘Don’t Look Up'. However, the onetime Oscar winner missed out on the chance.
Jennifer Hudson
American actor Hudson played singer’s Aretha Franklin in the biopic film ‘Respect’ after she was chosen by the queen of soul.
She was in the running for best actress and best original song but failed to clinch either.
Peter Dinklage
Popular ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Peter Dinklage was expected to be in the best actor nomination list for the film ‘Cyrano’, but did not manage to scoop it.
He is a four time Emmy award winner for the fantasy drama ‘Game of Thrones’.
Bradley Cooper
The American actor received a snub in two categories, best actor and best supporting actor in the films ‘Nightmare Alley’ and ‘Licorice Pizza’ respectfully.
Jay Z
Rapper Jay-Z who collaborated with rapper Kid Cudi for the soundtrack ‘Guns Go Bang’ failed to clinch the nomination for best original song in the film ‘The Harder they Fall’.
