'It was all too much too fast,' says Watendawili on why they left Sol generation

The boy band consisting of Eugine Ywaya and Israel Onyach said they found it difficult to adapt to the lifestyle change that happened in the blink of an eye.
The boy band found themselves at a point where they felt they needed to please their signees other than actually create music that advanced their end goal as a group.
"It was all too much too fast," said the boy band in an interview with the Nation.
"From the beginning, we had a humble story and we were well invested in a process that would get us from point A to B. Then, all of a sudden, we found ourselves at point B."
"It became hard to adapt to the lifestyle. Even in the studio booth, we had cameras flashing at us and still the expectation was high. Suddenly, we lost sight of the goal and it became less about creating music that moved us, and more about ensuring we pleased a number of people who had given us a shot at something great." said Watendawili.
However, the experience of getting signed by a big record label such as Sol generation, which is owned by African stars Sauti Sol, including Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno, came with its lessons.
For Watendawili, they carried with them a lot of lessons that would help even in future, while at the same time, they also needed to unlearn some.
"There was alot of pressure to deliver, which is understandable considering the people we working with. At times we felt small among the legends we were working with. But it was a learning experience; there is a lot we had to learn fast and unlearn much faster during that stint."
Watendawili featured in hit songs such as 'Extravaganza' and 'Rhumba Japani' alongside Sauti Sol, Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller, and Crystal Asige, Xenia Manasseh, Okello Max, and Nairobi Horns.
At the time, the band went by the name Kaskazini, which later rebranded after their exit from sol generation.
