Fast-rising Kenyan rapper Ian Kibe has emerged with yet another soulful track "Scars" which is one of the singles from his collaborative Extended Play (EP) with buddy and fellow artist Blurr.

In "Scars", Kibe explores themes around his own experiences, touching on his battles with drug abuse, his attempts to kick the habit and the accompanying mental and bodily rigours involved.

A lyrically-gifted dynamo, Kibe's journey through "Scars" is one of self-identity and epiphany - a retrospective look into his drug-fuelled existence as well as the desire to battle the demons and overcome his vices.

Drawing influences from various top rappers who have themselves documented their struggles with substance abuse and it's detriments, "Scars" thematic elements draw the listener into a world of introspect and self-awareness while at the same time jolting the listener to action.

Already, the song's music video has been shot and Kibe is gearing up for the much-anticipated Friday release saying that he aims to 'capture the audience and bring them into his world' while also feeding them with a fitting entertainment package that still educates at the end of the day.

"Our aim is to captire the audience and bring them into our world, letting them feel, sonically, our pain, struggles and triumphs. We shot the video at a public park which perfectly fit our overall version of the song's theme," he said.

The wordsmith continues to add that he envisioned a world where people could live a honest life and face their demons, head on.

"My vision with my verse on "Scars" was to enlighten the listener on who I am, where I stand as well as inform them on how to live a blame-free life. It's basically injecting consciousness into my art," he says.

On working with frequent collaborater Blurr, Kibe also spoke on the creative dynamic behind the duo, saying that his vision has always aligned with that of Blurr and that made "Scars" come out just naturally - with each artist experimenting with their own lyrical feelings and creative intuition.

"It was actually an open-verse Blurr had and he told me to hop on," Kibe says. "I liked the overall song and I just added my elements to the song went straight to writing. I'm happy at the masterpiece we ultimately created."

Ian Kibe’s artistic journey is a testament to the transformative power of music, where resilience meets creativity, and individuality converges with universal connection.

As he gears to drop the visuals to "Scars", Ian promises a visceral musical experience that not only moves the body but touches the soul, leaving listeners inspired and empowered.
