DJ Faxto crowned 'Mugithi Artist of the Year'
Controversial vernacular musician Lawrence Njuguna,
popularly known as DJ Faxto, has been christened the ‘Mugithi Artist of the Year’
at the E360 awards.
The award show,
in its Instagram account, announce DJ Fatxo as the winner, but the post elicited relatively mixed comments from fans ,
mostly due to the ongoing probe on the death of Jeff Mwathi which occurred at
DJ Fatxo’s apartment.
“Congrats DJ
Faxto for winning Male Mugithi Artist of the Year East Africa in e360 Awards 4th edition
2022/2023,” wrote the award show.
The winners
were crowned during a gala held at the Nairobi Cinema on March 18, 2023.
Other winners included Meshack Mwengei (Most Voted
Male Artist), Phelix Owiny (Male Model of the Year), Joseph Sonko Jnr
(Differently Abled of the Year), Fred Muyanga (Gospel Artist of the Year) and

DJ Fatxo is
currently a suspect in the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, who allegedly fell
from his apartment in Kasarani. The interior designer had met with the artiste to
discuss a supposed job offer.
Mwathi’s death drew public interest, with Mt. Kenya
Members of Parliamentt recently calling for the exhumation of the body for
DNA tests to be conducted to aid in the identification and arrest of key
suspects.
