Comedian Obinna narrates how he lost Ksh.68,000 to 'wash wash' conmen

Comedian Oga Obinna has narrated how he was fleeced of Ksh.68,000 by people who claimed they could triple the money.

Obinna narrated about a time when he encountered ‘wash wash’ con artists while living with seven of his friends.

“So this time we were living like 7 guys...a guy called Sammy found me in a disco matanga and I didn’t have a place to stay and he was like come stay with us,” he recalled on Jalango TV on Monday.

At this time, Obinna said he was working as an office messenger and was given Ksh.70,000 by his boss to collect some items.

However, he went home with Ksh.68,000 of the money to continue the pickup the next day, and that is where everything went wrong.

Obinna was convinced by two of his brother’s friends that the money could somehow become triple and he was intrigued.

“I went home with Ksh.68, 000, my brother saw the money and told me ‘this money by tomorrow you’ll be rich, let me show you.’ So he called another childhood friend of ours and he came with two more guys and they were like ‘let us show you how to make money,’” he stated.

Obinna hilariously demonstrated how all the seven people in that house believed that they were going to be rich, adding that the two mysterious guys even said that the money could triple in 24 hours. 

“They came in and did a demonstration of how to double the money, and all the seven of us inside that house were like yes this is real money, and the guy is like you see that Ksh.68,000 you have, tomorrow multiply by three. I thought about my problems and I was like you guys don’t know...now I’m a big boy I’m rich,” he said.

“They said lets go to Umoja, we booked two hotel rooms and he went to one and I went to the other, and he wrapped the money nicely, took some iodine and injected into the money with a syringe and told me to sit on it.”

Obinna went on to narrate that the guy later pretended that he had forgotten a chemical very crucial to the process of tripling the money so he left.

Upon waiting for two to three hours, and after several attempts of calling the mysterious guy, he later decided to go to a club and found the guy there with several women.

“I went to a club called Plan B and I found the idiot sitting there with seven women,” he said.

The comedian however said that he had learnt his lesson and spent the next few months paying for the money from his salary.
