In a drive towards achieving the goal, the transformative dairy initiative saw several women groups receive dairy goats in Central Imenti on Tuesday May 13, with county-wide earmarked programs for high-yielding goats.
"These dairy goats are a perfect catalyst that embodies gender responsive climate adaptive farming", said Kailemia.
The goats are targeted explicitly for women groups from arid and semi-arid areas seeking to bridge the gap for drought-resistant crops.
The Swiss Toggenburg goats are expected to produce a minimum yield of 740 kgs per lactation. The goats are a preferred choice for small-scale farmers, especially in rural areas.
Their ability to thrive on minimal resources makes them an ideal investment in areas frequently hit by drought and food scarcity.
During the occasion, dozens of local leaders called for concerted efforts to support vulnerable groups like women, people with disabilities, youth and older people with sustainable farming practices.
