Citizen TV has been recognized and awarded as Kenya’s Most Admired Media Brand in the 15th Annual Brand Africa 100 | Kenya’s Best Brands rankings.

The station, owned by Royal Media Services (RMS), was praised for its leadership in the media category, cultural relevance, and consumer trust.

RMS’s Director of Marketing and Digital Innovation, Carol Wachira, described the achievement as a reflection of the deep trust that audiences, listeners, and social media followers have in the media giant’s platforms.

She noted that the company remains committed to delivering relevant and meaningful content for Kenyans across the country.

“To have been mentioned as the most admired brand in the media category for Citizen Television — and then a second award for the brand Royal Media Services, which is a trusted brand that people are familiar with, that people love, that people really have an affinity for — it’s an exciting day for us,” she said.

“We are giving this back to our audience. We want to thank Kenya, because these awards are for you, Kenyans. We would not be where we are without the viewership that we have across our television stations, the listenership on our radio stations, and, most recently, the immense growth on our digital platforms.”

Now in its 15th edition, the Brand Africa Awards recognize the most admired brands across the continent, focusing on contribution to development and trust among consumers.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was awarded for distinguished leadership in the public service over his handling of the Covid-19 crisis during his tenure as Health minister under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Something that added value — leadership that added value to the people of Kenya — saved lives. But I think I would like to add that it is not me; the award that I got today goes very strongly to the teams that I have always worked with,” said CS Kagwe.

On her part, Gina Din, Vice Chairperson of the Brand Africa Awards, said: “What really made me happy is to learn that Kenyans love Kenyans. I think that was so inspiring - that Kenya’s favourite brand was Kenya. That makes us very reflective as a people. We have a beautiful brand.”
