Churchill Ochieng’ appointed new CEO of Safaricom Investment Co-operative
The Board
of Safaricom Investment Co-operative (SIC) has appointed Churchill Ochieng’ as
the new Chief Executive Officer.
In a press
release on Thursday, SIC said Ochieng’s over 25 years of experience across
leadership, cash flow management, corporate development and brand management,
among other areas, are key in steering the investment Sacco.
“We are
confident that his impeccable track record in banking, telco, fast-moving
consumer goods and facility management industries coupled with his proven
ability to develop and strengthen management teams to maximize company
profitability and efficiency will steer this cooperative to the next growth
phase,” said the cooperative's chairperson Judy Runo.
“We look
forward to drawing from his immense expertise and insights as we pursue our
mission of creating impact through diversified investments.”
Before his
appointment, Ochieng’ was the Managing Director at Sender Services Limited for
four years.
He has previously
served as Head of Airtel Money and Zonal Business in sales and distribution at
Airtel Kenya, Head of Personal Banking at Guarantee Trust Bank and the
General Manager of Personal and Business Banking at Faulu Kenya Bank.
Ochieng’ has
also worked as the head of Direct Sales Africa at Standard Bank Group and also as
Country Head of Sales Kenya at Barclays Bank of Kenya, which has since rebranded to Absa.
He holds a master's
degree in business administration and a bachelor’s in commerce from the
University of Nairobi. He is also currently pursuing a doctorate at the institution.
SIC is one
of Kenya’s largest investment Saccos with a membership of over 5,000.
