Africa’s largest women in tech festival kicks off

The Africa Women in Tech festival kicked off in Nairobi on Wednesday.

Under the theme ‘Scaling Technology in Africa’, women from Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania and Mauritius are meeting to engage on innovation, financing and inclusivity.

“The one-week celebration will be a great opportunity for women in technology spaces in Africa to come together to network, share and empower each other to improve and push forward Africa’s technology growth agenda,” Sylvia Mukasa, Kenya Chapter Lead, told Citizen Digital.

The Kenya event will run from the October 23 to 25 at the Nairobi Garage.

However, the global festival runs for one-week and is an opportunity for women in technology spaces in Africa and the diaspora to improve and push forward Africa’s technology growth agenda.

Women in Tech Africa has membership of over 5,000 across 30 countries including Germany, Ireland, Britain and Cape Verde.

Last year, it received the UN Equals Award for Leadership in the women and technology space.
