Sofapaka FC coach Zedekiah
'Zico' Otieno has voiced his contentment with the outcome of the one-goal draw
against Talanta FC over the weekend. He emphasized that the single point earned
has bolstered their efforts to avoid relegation.
FC Talanta and Sofapaka FC settled for a 1-1
draw at the Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
"In the first half, our
performance was subpar, compounded by an own goal. However, we displayed better organization and control over the game in the second half.
Securing the equalizing goal
was a positive turnaround, although we regret missing two opportunities to take
the lead. Nonetheless, we are grateful for the one point earned as it aids our
mission to remain in the league," stated Zico.
The draw left Talanta in 13th place, level on points with 14th-placed Sofapaka and 12th-placed Murang'a Seal after losing points.
Talanta took the lead against Sofapaka in the 28th minute when Augustine Kuta delivered a ball into the box, inadvertently deflected into the net by Edwin Lutta for an own goal.
Shortly after falling behind, 'Batoto ba Mungu' increased their pressure and were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Rodgers Kipkemoi, from the right wing, found Jacob Onyango with a pinpoint cross. Onyango's powerful header beat Talanta's goalkeeper, Isaiah Wakasala, levelling the score at 1-1.
Talanta FC coach Ken Kenyatta expressed satisfaction with the result, stating that it will bolster the team for their upcoming matches.
"I'm content with this result, but it's not what I had anticipated. We had a one-goal lead, but unfortunately, we squandered several opportunities while in the lead. I must focus on improving our attack to minimize inefficiencies in scoring against our opponents," remarked Kenyatta.
