Obilo said players were unavailable to train with as Zetech University was closed over the period and will only reopen in a fortnight.
Zetech, who lost to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the women's playoff final last term, had a bit of off-season action when they featured in the Sterling Cup.
“We played the sterling cup which we used as a preseason event though we haven’t prepared yet for the league because the schools are closed since the beginning of the month and we are opening in the next maybe two weeks. As per now even if the league could have started last weekend, we would have not been able to play yet until maybe mid-September.
"We have not started preparing yet and I will be able to talk about the new season when we are back and see everyone is healthy and know who we have in the team and from there we can now talk about how we are going to handle the new season,” Obilo said.
Zetech Sparks will represent the country during the Zone Five club championship in the course of the year alongside KPA.
The Kenya Basketball Federation Premier league was to kick off last weekend and it will now tip off this Friday.
The KBF also requested the teams which had not done their registration to do so as the league is now expected on Friday 1st of September 2023.
