Xiaomi Kenya has unveiled the REDMI Note 17 Series, introducing three new models including the first-ever Pro Max variant, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G. The series brings larger batteries, faster charging, improved water and drop resistance, and a new design language to the mid-range segment.

The launch also marks a milestone for the brand, with the REDMI Note Series surpassing 500 million shipments worldwide since its debut.

Leading the new lineup is the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which combines a redesigned look, what Xiaomi calls "REDMI Titan Quality," and the company's largest-ever smartphone battery at 10,000mAh. It is joined by the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and the REDMI Note 17, rounding out a trio built around Xiaomi's "Built for Years" philosophy.

Under the REDMI Titan Quality banner, the series comes with up to six years of security updates, while select models offer up to six years of battery health. The Pro Max model goes further with a six-year like-new software experience aimed at maintaining smoothness over time.

The Pro Max and Pro models are the first in the industry to earn TÜV SÜD's 5-star Titan Quality Certification, developed jointly with the German testing firm to assess drop resistance, water resistance and battery performance through lab and real-world testing. Both models achieved full certification across all three categories, while the standard REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G carry the 5-star Battery Performance Certification.

On battery life, Xiaomi says the Pro Max can deliver up to three days of use on a single charge, with just 20 minutes of charging enough for a full day's use. The entire series runs on what Xiaomi calls the REDMI Titan Battery System, built on silicon-carbon battery technology. The Pro Max carries a 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging and 27W reverse charging, the Pro carries an 8,340mAh battery with 67W charging, and the standard model comes with a 7,700mAh battery and 45W charging. Xiaomi says the batteries retain at least 80 per cent of their original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, equivalent to roughly six years of typical use.

On durability, the two Pro models feature reinforced hardware built to handle drops, dust and water exposure, with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Both have passed a two-metre, 72-hour water-resistance test and introduce an Underwater Mode for the first time. They have also been certified by SGS to withstand drops of up to three metres onto granite, and use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for additional scratch and drop resistance.

Design-wise, the series introduces a redesigned camera module, a flat display, rounded corners and a dual-finish back panel. The Pro Max is available in an exclusive Cloud Blush finish that changes colour from white to pink-orange under UV light, while the Pro model comes in Satin Orange and Sky Blue finishes.

On the display and performance front, the Pro models feature a 6.83-inch screen while the standard model offers a larger 6.99-inch display. The Pro Max and Pro deliver up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness with 1.5K resolution. The Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, with both Pro models supporting up to 24GB of RAM through memory extension. The series also integrates Google Gemini and Circle to Search across all models, with the Pro Max additionally featuring Xiaomi's HyperAI.

On camera capabilities, the series focuses on true-to-life portraits and offers dual-video recording across the lineup, with the Pro Max supporting 4K 30fps recording. AI-powered editing tools, including AI Erase Pro, AI Beautify and AI Image Enhancement, are available on the Pro models.

On pricing, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at KES 59,999, available in Cloud Blush, Green, Purple and Black. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G starts at KES 46,999, available in Sky Blue, Satin Orange, Purple and Black. The REDMI Note 17 starts at KES 29,999, available in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal and Black.

Xiaomi Kenya has also rolled out a launch offer running until October 10. Every purchase comes with the standard 24-plus-1-month warranty, a complimentary two-year screen protection plan and a three-year battery warranty. Buyers of the REDMI Note 17 or REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G will receive a Xiaomi Lamp worth KES 3,700, while REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G buyers will receive a Xiaomi Toaster worth KES 7,000. Customers can also access flexible instalment financing through OnFon, with a 10 per cent deposit from KES 3,300 and daily payments from KES 160 through October, while purchases made at Safaricom Shops come with an additional 15GB of free data.
