World marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has set her sights on conquering the Valencia Marathon which is primed for December 7 2025 in Spain, hoping to extend her already decorated career.

After missing two major marathons, one in Paris last year and another in London this year due to injury, Peres Jepchirchir returned in the most powerful way by winning gold at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Jepchirchir won the women's marathon, at the world championships, held in Tokyo Japan, beating Ethiopia’s Tegist Assefa - who placed second in the race – in an epic battle for gold.

At the moment, Jepchirchir, who is coachless, is training alone but she believes the strong programme guiding her training regimen can catapult her to victory in Valencia.

“I follow the same program I’ve always used. I know my body, I know my goals. I just believe in myself.”

With another world title in the bag five years after winning Olympic gold and world championship in Tokyo this year, she is aiming for the Valencia Marathon gold.
