Police in Nakuru County have arrested a woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband at their home in Rongai constituency.
The woman identified as Caroline Chebet, 37, allegedly
stabbed Alphonse Ochieng, 27, following a domestic dispute.
Neighbours say the couple has been experiencing frequent
wrangles for some time now, and interventions to try and
reconcile them have remained futile.
“Their wrangles started at midnight and it was normal to
us because they always scuffle. We heard the lady screaming saying that someone’s
child will die and we thought those are their private matters so no neighbor stepped
out. We later heard that he died,” said Ochieng Otieno, a neighbor.
Speaking after the incident, Ochieng’s brother Stephen
Otieno said that he arrived at the hospital where he learn that his kin was stabbed
in the abdomen.
“I was referred to Annex Mortuary where I found my brother
lying there with a stab wound. He was stabbed deep in the abdomen. I came here
to view his body,” he said.
Otieno added that his brother marrying an
older woman had raised concerns.
Rongai OCPD Daniel Birech says the suspect is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment on Monday, with a postmortem for the deceased scheduled for later in the week.
Meanwhile, the body of the decease is preserved at the Nakuru level 5 hospital
annex awaiting autopsy.
