Wiper Party leaders meet Aisha Jumwa in Malindi to seek Kalonzo's support

The leaders include Wundanyi MP Danston Mwashako who is also eyeing for Taita Taveta Governor seat, Kitui Senator Enock Wambua among other leaders announced that Kalonzo is best placed to lead the united opposition to unseat President William Ruto.

Speaking during a church service at Ebenezer church of Kisumu Ndogo, Malindi town, the leaders said they came to meet Jumwa because they believe she if fit to bolster the United Opposition's presence in the region.

Senator Wambua said that owing to Jumwa's knowledge of how the current administration operates, she can help the United opposition win the 2027 elections.

"If you think she deserves leadership, walk with her and support her. Vote for leaders you can relate to. I congratulate Aisha for the bold step she took. You have opened the transfer window, wait and see how many more will follow suit," he said, adding that the party desires to have Kalonzo leading the opposition's front.

Jumwa said she made the bold move to ditch UDA, adding that there have been delegations visiting her home ever since including the wiper party delegation.

She said she will soon make her pronouncement on her next political move after holding consultations with various political parties.

The former CS said her bid to become governor is aimed at transforming the leadership as the current regime has failed to deliver to the people of Kilifi county.

Mwashako said he has been touring the nation with the Linda Mwananchi movement team and was supporting them but urged Kenyans to support Kalonzo for president in the 2027 elections.

He said they believe forging ties with Jumwa will be able to build a strong team that will challenge President Ruto in the 2027 polls.

Malindi town ward Rashid Odhiambo who was present said there was need for the United opposition to agree quickly on who would be their flag bearer so as to be able to defeat President Ruto.

Jumwa ditched the ruling party on July 30, citing humiliation and frustration over her bid to run for the Kilifi gubernatorial seat in 2027.

During a press address, Jumwa said her attempts to have her grievances addressed by President Ruto fell on deaf ears, claiming her pleas were repeatedly rejected.

She said that at one point she was chased out of State House during a meeting between the President and Coast leaders, an incident she cited alongside other frustrations within the party as pushing her to quit.
