Wiper deputy minority leader Enock Wambua has dismissed claims that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met President William Ruto with a view to teaming up with him for the 2027 General Election.

Terming the claims a "deep fake", Wambua said there were no such plans and that Kalonzo remained committed to the United Alternative cause.

"There was no meeting, there is no plan to have such a meeting. If Ruto met a man in State House called Kalonzo, then that man was not Kalonzo Musyoka," he said.

Wambua claimed the government was spreading the rumours because it knew Kalonzo was the biggest threat to Ruto's presidency.

He said the opposition would soon name its candidate for next year's election, adding that all opposition leaders had committed to backing whoever is chosen.

"Kalonzo is a seasoned politician. I dare say he is the senior most statesman alive. Kalonzo is not a man to sell the vision of millions of Kenyans for his personal gain," he said.

The denial follows videos circulating on social media claiming Kalonzo met Ruto and proposed becoming his running mate in the next election.
