Wiper Party has dismissed reports that its leader Kalonzo Musyoka is preparing to join President William Ruto’s government, insisting that the party remains committed to a united opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Wiper Party chairman Jamleck Kamau described the reports as propaganda, claiming they were being propagated by forces within the government to undermine Musyoka as opposition parties continue discussions on building a united political front.

Kamau said attempts to link the Wiper leader to the government were aimed at creating divisions within the opposition as parties and leaders negotiate the structure and leadership of a possible coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also clarified Wiper’s engagement with Parliamentary Service Commission Chairperson Johnstone Muthama, saying he personally initiated discussions with the former politician.

“I am the one who initiated the talks with Johnstone Muthama. At no time has he met our party leader to persuade him to join the government. We have met twice, once at a hotel in Nairobi and again at my home,” Kamau said.

Kamau said Wiper was also engaging other leaders currently associated with the government, suggesting that some of them could eventually move to the opposition.

He maintained that such engagements were part of broader political discussions as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Meanwhile, former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo said the immediate priority was to bring Kamba leaders together before reaching out to leaders from other communities and political formations.

Kilonzo said greater unity among Kamba leaders would form part of wider efforts to strengthen cooperation among opposition groups ahead of the elections.

Kamau maintained that Wiper would remain in the united opposition and said the party was focused on building a political alliance to challenge President Ruto at the ballot.

“We are in the united opposition to stay. We are focused on building a strong force to face President Ruto in the 2027 election,” he said.
