Wiper dismisses attacks on Kalonzo, reaffirms Opposition's plan to win elections

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Secretary General Shakila Abdalla, the party noted that the repeated claim that Kalonzo has 'nothing to show' for his years in public service is propaganda and meant to undermine his credibility ahead of the 2027 General Election. 

"The Wiper Patriotic Front has noted with concern the recent wave of misinformation, personal attacks and politically charged propaganda directed at our Party Leader, H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. These sustained attacks are intended to diminish his credibility and distract Kenyans from the pressing economic, social and governance challenges confronting our nation," the statement read.

The party defended Kalonzo's record in public service, describing him as one of Kenya's most distinguished statesmen whose contributions to national cohesion, constitutional reform, diplomacy and conflict resolution were well documented.

Wiper also reaffirmed Kalonzo's commitment to the United Alternative Government, insisting he remained fully engaged with fellow opposition principals in efforts to build a united front ahead of the 2027 polls.

"The Wiper Patriotic Front further reiterates that H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka remains firmly committed as a Principal of the United Alternative Government. He is working closely with his fellow Principals in a spirit of mutual respect, consultation and shared purpose to build a credible, inclusive and united leadership capable of offering Kenya a better future," the party stated.

The declaration comes just hours after the party's Deputy Minority Leader Enock Wambua dismissed reports alleging Kalonzo had secretly met President William Ruto to discuss a possible political alliance ahead of the polls.

Terming the claims a "deep fake", Wambua insisted no such meeting had taken place and maintained that the former Vice President remained committed to the opposition coalition.

"There was no meeting, there is no plan to have such a meeting. If Ruto met a man in State House called Kalonzo, then that man was not Kalonzo Musyoka," Wambua said.

He further accused the government of spreading the rumours because it viewed Kalonzo as President Ruto's strongest challenger in the next election.

This also comes months after President Ruto directed criticism at Kalonzo, claiming that some leaders are now seeking the presidency without a vision and clear policy proposals.

"The challenge we have had is the challenge of leadership. Mtu tu anataka kupigiwa makofi, morning and evening, anaimbiwa na wamama, and there is nothing they are doing. He has no plan, he has no idea, he has no agenda, he has no programme, he has no vision," Ruto said during a recent development tour in Machakos County.
