West Pokot County Assembly Speaker Fredrick Kaptui Plimo is among three accused persons summoned to appear in court on November 5, 2026, for plea-taking in a case involving the alleged defrauding of Eco-Pillar Sacco Society Limited of Ksh.260 million.
Plimo, Kodich Ward Member of County Assembly Paul Lokitari
Ywapamoi and Francis Atodosia were absent when the matter came up in court on
Thursday, prompting the court to issue summons requiring them to appear on the
scheduled date.
The court warned that warrants of arrest could be issued
against them if they fail to comply with the summons.
The six other accused persons included Linus Lokira, Leonard Pchakas an Domoita, Nicholas Toroitich Arusho, Andrew Poriot Lorema, Susan Chesang, and Florence Chemotwo. They appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the alleged loss of Ksh.260,008,100 between 2018 and 2025.
According to the Office of the Director of Public
Prosecutions (ODPP), the nine accused persons allegedly conspired to defraud
the Sacco through the manipulation of transaction systems, creation of
fraudulent accounts and fictitious loans, and unauthorised transfers of funds
from Sacco accounts to personal bank accounts.
The accused include former senior Sacco officials, among
them chief executive officers, finance officers and information and
communications technology officers.
They face various charges, including conspiracy to defraud,
stealing by servant, cheating, unauthorised interference with a computer system
and abuse of office.
The court directed that a ruling on bond terms for the six
accused persons who appeared be delivered on November 2, 2026.
