'We're angry and we’ll teach you a lesson!' Gachagua warns Ruto over alleged betrayal of Mt. Kenya

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to deal with President William Ruto at the 2027 General Election over alleged atrocities committed against the Mt. Kenya region during his tenure. 

Speaking on Thursday during the requiem mass for James Muigai and Zachariah Gakinya, youth killed during the recently held Ol Kalou by-election, Gachagua noted that his party would form a historic wave that would seek to unseat President Ruto's administration. 

He declared that his former boss and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party honcho must pay for alleged betrayal against Mt. Kenya community. 

"Hapa milimani tutakuwa na operation fagia. Watu wa Ruto na UDA kuanzia MP, MCA, Senator, Governor mpaka President. Watu wote watachaguliwa viti vyote sita ni DCP," he stated. 

"There will be a wave that has not been witnessed in this region since 1992. We are angry and we will teach you a lesson for what you've done to us."

The former Deputy President also directed the Mt. Kenya region to retreat from retorting against the ruling regime, noting that they should compose songs instead to air out their grievances. 

"Nataka wasanii wetu waanze kutunga nyimbo ya hii mauaji vile tulifanya J.M Kariuki. We shall speak through songs going forward, the way we normally do when under threat. We must come up with songs with the message that the community is under siege and under persecution by Ruto," he stated. 

He also lauded the people of Ol Kalou for voting en masse for DCP's Sammy Ngotho against UDA candidate Samuel Muchina in last week’s by-election. 

"Your (Ruto’s) money means nothing to this community, it is dirty money with Gen Z blood. You can't change the stance of this community even if you spend whatever amount," he stated. 

Gachagua urged the Mt. Kenya region to be patient and wait till the August 2027 General Election to “rid the country of the current mess.”

"You have declared war and we've said it's okay. We will correct the situation next year," he said.
