Wazalendo edged Kenya Police 3-2 in a lively City Park clash as they sealed second spot in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s Premier League on Sunday.

Wazalendo made a blistering start with Danston Baraza scoring inside just two minutes and Joseph Kasua doubled the advantage 22 minutes later as Police fell 2-0 back in the opening half.

Sutcliffe Usagi hit a remarkable shot to put his 3-0 up and take Wazalendo seemingly beyond reach moments after the restart only for the visitors to score twice in two minutes through Samwel Oungo and Titus Kimtai to set up a tense finale.

Yet Wazalendo were able to hang on and take all points from a victory that coach Fidhelis Kimanzi Wazalendo said was ‘deserved’.

By finishing second behind champions Butali Sugar Warriors, Wazalendo thus earned automatic qualification for the Africa Cup for Club Championships.
