The immediate former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga,
whose exit was announced on Wednesday, has been posted to Pretoria as Kenya’s
new High Commissioner to South Africa.
KRA
Board Chair Ndiritu Muriithi said Wattanga had proceeded on terminal leave
effective immediately.
His subsequent posting by President William Ruto was announced in a notification of presidential action released by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei later the same evening.
President Ruto also nominated Dr. Julius Murori Mbijiwe as
Ambassador to the Vatican, while Amb. Irene Maswan and Amb. Judy Muthoni Njau
were nominated as deputy envoys to the United Kingdom and Belgium respectively.
“These postings arise from the regular cycle of succession
within Kenya's missions abroad and to support the expansion of the nation's
diplomatic footprint,” stated Koskei.
“In fulfillment of the constitutional imperatives on the
appointment of State officers, His Excellency the President has caused the
transmittal of the Nominations to the National Assembly for consideration and
approval by Parliament.”
