Water shortage hits Migori town

Residents of Migori Town have been forced to rely on boreholes and River Migori for water as a prolonged shortage enters its third week.
A spot check by Citizen Digital found taps across the town running dry, leaving residents with no option but to fetch water from boreholes and the polluted River Migori.
Residents, led by Victor Otieno, have urged the county government to restore a reliable water supply, saying the shortage has disrupted daily life.
Migori County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water and Energy Silas Onyango confirmed the shortage, attributing it to mechanical failures at the county's main water treatment plant.
Onyango said the plant's water pumps broke down and that the county is in the process of replacing them. He expressed optimism that normal water supply would be restored within the next two weeks.
He acknowledged the hardship residents are facing and assured them that efforts are underway to have water flowing back through taps as soon as possible.
