A Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Campaign has been launched in Meru County, aimed at improving access to clean water and promoting hygiene awareness in schools

The campaign addresses a practical and pressing need for access to clean water.

This initiative by Sidian Bank seeks to ease daily water access challenges while promoting better hygiene practices at the household and community level reducing vulnerability, and supporting healthier communities.

Speaking during the launch, Simon Mwangi, Head of Government and Institutional Banking at Sidian Bank, said the initiative reflects the Bank’s approach to development partnerships and underscored the importance of access to clean water as a foundation for sustainable development.

“Access to clean water is not just a basic need; it is a foundation for health, dignity, and economic stability. Through this WASH campaign, Sidian Bank is investing in practical solutions that respond to real community needs and support long-term resilience. By working closely with local leadership, we are ensuring that these interventions deliver lasting impact beyond today’s handover,” said Simon Mwangi.

Under the campaign, the bank donated 10,000 litre water tanks across several constituencies, in close collaboration with local leadership and community structures.

Welcoming the initiative, Mbeere South MP Bernard Muriuki, noted that the program has the potential to improve health outcomes and livelihoods across the constituency.

“For many families here in Mbeere South, access to clean water remains a daily struggle. This support will ease that burden and contribute to better health and livelihoods. We appreciate this partnership and look forward to continued collaboration that puts the needs of the community first,” he said.

The WASH Campaign aligns with the bank’s sustainability agenda, which focuses on supporting practical community-driven initiatives that deliver tangible outcomes, strengthen resilience and improve quality of life, particularly in underserved areas.
