Ulinzi Warriors head coach Bernard Mufutu has credited their sweet-savoured 61-53 victory, over rivals Umoja, in a weekend basketball league match, to fine build-up ahead of the game.
The game was
preceded by much hype, which psyched up his players. They lived up to the
billing, with aggressive performances, while the opposition provided a
competitive edge—something Coach Mufutu is impressed about.
“The media teams did a very good job in hyping
the match, and it turned out to be entertaining to watch,” he said.
The encounter
lived up to expectations as both sides battled intensely, pushing each other
throughout the four quarters. Ulinzi showed flashes of brilliance, particularly
in a strong fourth-quarter display that helped seal the win.
However, the
tactician admitted his side struggled with consistency, especially around the
halftime period and in other stretches of the game.
“We didn’t play
well in some quarters and made a lot of mistakes,” he added.
Despite the
shortcomings, Mufutu praised Umoja for their resilience, acknowledging that
they pushed his team to the limit.
“Umoja is a good
side and they really took us to the edge,” he noted.
The victory
strengthens Ulinzi Warriors’ campaign in the league, while the closely
contested nature of the match underlined the growing competitiveness of the
men’s premier division.
