After a one-month break, the Wanda Diamond League returns to action in Lausanne on Friday, August 21, as the circuit enters its home stretch.

Leading Kenya's charge are Olympic medallists Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Faith Cherotich, both set to headline an electric night at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.

The Athletissima meeting marks one of the final stops on the 2026 calendar before the circuit moves through Silesia and Zurich, ultimately culminating at the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4–5.

Reigning Diamond League 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi returns to a track that holds deep personal significance.

Lausanne was the venue where the Olympic champion stormed to a blistering 1:41.11 in 2024—a mark that stands as the meeting record and the joint second-fastest time in world history.

Coming off a breathtaking performance in Monaco last month—where he shattered the 27-year-old world 1000m record with a time of 2:11.83—Wanyonyi will face a formidable field featuring Canada's Marco Arop as he chases his first 800m circuit victory of the season.

Faith Cherotich arrives in Switzerland targeting back-to-back Diamond League honors in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

The Olympic bronze medallist and world champion—who claimed the trophy last season in Zurich with an 8:57.24 run—is set for a thrilling showdown against fellow powerhouse Winfred Yavi.

With both athletes having already breached the 8:51 mark this year, their Lausanne clash promises to be one of the marquee races of the night.

Kenya’s contingent in Lausanne also features 1500m star Nelly Chepchirchir, alongside world 800m champion Lilian Odira and Commonwealth Games 5000m champion Mathew Kipsang.

With qualification spots for the season finale nearly locked in, Lausanne provides these distance stars the ideal proving ground to fine-tune their rhythm, build momentum, and cement their standing among the global elite ahead of Brussels.
