Wanga dismisses Orengo's presidential ambition, says he lacks strategic plan

Speaking on Sunday at Ndhiwa Catholic Church in Homa Bay County, Wanga said that vying for the presidency requires long-term planning, extensive preparation and political networks that cannot be established just months before an election.

The Homa Bay governor further argued that the presidency is a highly competitive position that requires adequate preparation and strategic political engagements.

Wanga noted that the late ODM leader Raila Odinga contested for the presidency five times but was unsuccessful, arguing that political circumstances and proximity to the ruling establishment have historically played a major role in determining electoral success.

She also faulted Governor Orengo over claims that the Luo community is not at the negotiating table ahead of the next General Election because it does not have a presidential candidate.

Wanga maintained that the interests of the Luo community are being championed through the ODM Party, which she said has already begun negotiations with the Kenya Kwanza administration on possible political arrangements ahead of the formation of the next government.

She further took a swipe at the Linda Mwananchi faction, accusing the group of lacking a clear political direction and leadership structure.

She said there appears to be confusion within the faction, noting that while Governor Orengo has declared interest in the presidency, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has also been associated with presidential ambitions.

She warned against violence and chaos during political gatherings, saying leaders should promote peace and unity as the country heads towards the next General Election.
