DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa has criticised the government over what he termed rising insecurity targeting leaders and clergy, saying recent fatal attacks should be treated as a red flag.

Wamalwa spoke during a thanksgiving Mass at Olokirkirai Catholic Church in Narok North Constituency held in honour of Deacon James Meeli.

He praised the clergy for what he said is their role in speaking out on governance issues and poor policy implementation, and urged religious leaders to remain firm in defending democracy and better leadership.

Wamalwa also defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying he has a constitutional right to freedom of expression.

DAP-K officials and aspirants who attended the service, including DCP deputy secretary general and Narok North parliamentary aspirant Martin Ole Kamwaro and Senate aspirant Kaleku Mukare, echoed the calls for the church to continue standing up for democratic values.

The remarks come as Kenya prepares to host the Africa Forward Summit, which is expected to bring together delegates from several countries for talk
