Hired killer confesses to murder after client refused to pay him Ksh.20K

A man from Vihiga County has confessed to stabbing and killing a 43-year-old woman after the person who allegedly hired him to commit the crime failed to pay him Ksh.20,000.

The suspect turned himself over to officers at Mbale Police Station and admitted to the Sunday last week murder of the woman, only identified as Kahongeri by police. The incident occurred at Sahini village in Sabatia Constituency.

According to Vihiga County Commander Benjamin Ong'ombe, the suspect told police that he stabbed the woman in the neck before leaving her at an abandoned building.

The suspect who was arrested immediately did not however reveal the motive behind the murder which he says was sanctioned by another woman.

"It was shocking that the suspect said it without mincing words that he murdered Kahongeri,” Ong'ombe told the Standard.

Though initially sceptical about the man's claims, police visited the scene only to discover Kahongeri's body with the murder weapon still stuck in her neck.

"We could not believe him at first and decided to establish if he had committed the crime, only to discover the body at the scene he had mentioned,” said Ong’ombe.

The body of the deceased has since been moved to Vihiga County Referral Hospital Mortuary while the woman alleged to have put out a hit on Kahongeri is currently in police custody.

Investigations into the alleged deal gone sour are currently ongoing.
