Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa found himself on the wrong side of goons at a polling station during Thursday’s by-election in Kibra Constituency.

Barasa was attacked at DC Grounds by rowdy youth who first grabbed his signature cap off his head before slapping him several times as others shoved him.

The scuffle occurred in a surprise turn of events while Barasa was calmly speaking to Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, who had just arrived at the DC Grounds.

Mr. Arati’s efforts to calm down the youth were futile as the youth demanded that Barasa, who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto, leave the polling station.

Earlier on, Jubilee Party candidate in the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga was on Thursday afternoon chased out of Mayani polling station by locals.

Mariga, who was touring various polling stations in the area to check on how the voting process was going on, was forced to flee in his vehicle.
