Tusker FC’s newly acquired striker Victor Mbaoma is hopeful of making an impactful contribution to his new club and helping the Kenyan Premier League side win their first league title in four years.

The Brewers endured a disappointing season that saw the former champions finish ninth in 2025/26—their lowest league position in almost two decades.

That outcome prompted the club to release several players deemed surplus to requirements, with the Nigerian forward brought in to lead an overhauled squad ahead of the upcoming domestic and continental campaigns.

Arriving with a proven goal-scoring record after topping the Nigerian Premier Football League charts with 25 goals for Remo Stars, Mbaoma says he is ready to hit the ground running at Ruaraka.

“This is a new league, a new environment and a new country. All I need is the support of the players, management and fans, and the rest will be mine to do.”

“I had a good pre-season with the team in Rwanda, and I am happy that I managed to score my first goal in a competitive game for my club. Although we did not progress from the group stages of the CECAFA tournament, I got an opportunity to work on a number of things with my teammates.”

Mbaoma is part of an ambitious recruitment drive by the Brewers as they seek to bounce back and build a roster capable of competing for silverware on multiple fronts.

Joining him at Ruaraka are defenders John Otieno from Nairobi United, Abud Omar from Kenya Police FC, Talena Ochieng, Collins Ochieng from Danish side AC Horsens, and Siraj Mohammed on loan from Gor Mahia.

The squad has been further bolstered by midfielder December Kisaka from KCB, alongside forwards Aboubacar Doumbia from Al-Orubah and Abdoulie Joof from Armed Forces of The Gambia.

Speaking on the revamp, head coach Jullien Mette reiterated the club’s commitment to restoring its winning standards, insisting Tusker’s history demands nothing less than trophy contention.

"We want to build a squad with the quality needed to compete for trophies. The recruitment process has already started, and we are bringing in players who can help us achieve our ambitions both locally and in Africa."

"A club of Tusker’s stature can’t finish ninth in the league and sit pretty; we must make a major overhaul and have players who can help us achieve our target,” said Mette.

The French tactician maintained that winning trophies remains the primary objective as the team prepares to launch its new campaign.

“I did not come all the way from France as a tourist, but I came here to coach and win trophies, and this is our target next season. We are going to make our fanbase and the sponsor happy,” he added.

Tusker are now stepping up preparations for Sunday’s KPL Super Cup clash against league champions Gor Mahia, where the Brewers will be keen to kick off the new season with a statement victory.
