The family of gospel singer Racheal Muthoni Wandeto continues to call for justice following her death after an attack in Mwiki, Kasarani Sub-County.

Wandeto sustained severe burn injuries after being attacked and set on fire by unknown individuals. She later died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, where doctors said she had suffered burns covering 75 per cent of her body.

The singer had drawn public attention after tattooing an image of President William Ruto on her body and openly supporting the government’s “two-term” political campaign.

Speaking at the family home in Kabumbu Village, Kirinyaga Central, her brother Isaiah Mwangi Wandeto said the family was devastated by the loss and urged authorities to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“My mother had five children, and now only one of us remains. We are asking the government to help us get justice for my sister,” he said.

Isaiah also said he would continue expressing his political views openly, including branding his vehicle with the “two-term” slogan, despite concerns raised after his sister’s death.

He further called for the protection of freedom of expression and political tolerance.

Kirinyaga Central MP Joseph Gachoki Gitari confirmed that a postmortem examination is scheduled for Friday as burial preparations continue.

“We have spoken with the family and burial preparations are ongoing as we await the postmortem on Friday,” the MP said.

Speaking in Sagana, the lawmaker described Wandeto’s death as tragic and urged Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and security agencies to expedite investigations and arrest those responsible.

Gitari also called on Kenyans to embrace political tolerance, saying individuals should be free to express their political opinions without fear of intimidation or violence.
