Ulinzi Warriors head coach Bernard Mufutu has rallied his charges to showcase consistency despite registering a 67-54 win over Stanbic Shields in a Kenya National Men's Basketball Premier League match played over the weekend at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The soft-spoken tactician has admitted that the performance did not fully reflect the score line, pointing out lapses on the offensive end, and he wants a quick response to the frailties.

“At times you can win a game and still feel the team didn’t perform at its best. We missed a lot of free throws, which affected our rhythm offensively,” he said.

The coach, however, acknowledged improvements in defence, noting that the team is beginning to find stability on that end of the floor.

“Defensively, we are starting to get a good feel of it, but we need to be able to get good baskets or quality looks offensively from those defensive stops,” he added.

Mufutu further emphasized that consistency remains a major concern as the team continues to build momentum in the league.

“Consistency remains one of the key areas we are still working on as a team,” he said. “Being able to perform at a high level on both ends of the floor. But overall, the players are putting in the work every day across all aspects of the game as we prepare for our upcoming fixture,” he noted.

The victory saw Ulinzi move to 12 points after seven matches, having secured five wins and suffered two losses. Stanbic, on the other hand, have 11 points from eight matches, winning three and losing five.

Ulinzi will now shift focus to their next assignment, with Mufutu keen on seeing a more complete performance from his charges.
