Ulinzi Starlets tactician Collins Ochieng is confident of clinching the FKF Women’s Premier League this season.
Ochieng led the
soldiers to a 2-0 victory over Trinity Starlets at Comboni in Gilgil on Sunday,
which elevated them to the second position on the log with 41 points, one
behind the leaders and defending champions Kenya Police Bullets.
Quinter Adhiambo
scored the first goal for Ulinzi in the 48th minute before Elizabeth Mideva
notched the second goal in 69th minute to ensure maximum points.
“I want to thank
my players for a good fight. They played according to my game plan and I have
no doubts that if we continue winning then we can clinch the title this season.”
“What we need,
as soldiers, is to win all our remaining fixtures, and I’m sure it’s
achievable. In our first leg Trinity defeated us but we had to change our
tactics this time round to ensure we harvest maximum points.”
Elsewhere, at
Mawego Polytechnic in Homa Bay County, hosts Gideon Starlets overcome Police
Bullets 1-0 thanks to Zaina Namuleme 31st minute goal.
“It was great
match and I’m happy that we managed to defeat them. The win gives us high hopes
of retaining our title. For now my squad is intact and our new recruits have gelled
well with the rest in the team, looking forward for more wins.”
The league will continue on Saturday, as Ulinzi Starlets host Vihiga Queens at Ulinzi Sports Complex while Police Bullets face Kibera Soccer Women at Police Sacco stadium.
