Ulinzi Starlets head coach Collins Ochieng is confident they will beat Bungoma Queens when both lock horns in the FKF Women’s Premier League on Sunday, January 11 at Bungoma Polytechnic Stadium.
Ochieng has led the soldiers to top of the table with 20
points same to second placed Trinity Starlets as Kenya Police Bullets, Vihiga
Queens and Kayole Starlets wrap up top five with 19, 18 and 16 points in that
order.
Ahead of the mouth-watering clash, Ochieng has no injuries
doubt and believe that proper preparations they have had will propel them to
win the match.
“We thank God for guiding us all through the 2025 year to
the New Year. We resumed the camp on December 29 to prepare for Bungoma match
and so far, I can say we are ready to go. All my players are in good shape with
no injury doubts so we look forward for a win.”
Ochieng however admitted that defeating their opponents will
not be a walk in the park as he urged his charges to stay focused and work
hard.
“Bungoma is a tough side because many of their players have
experience of playing in the premier league and they play very good football
but that will not scare us away from defeating them.”
Other fixtures on Sunday will see Zetech Sparks hosting
Kayole Starlets at the Zetech University Man’gu campus as defending champions
Kenya Police Bullets will be visiting Madira Soccer Assassins at the Mumboha
Stadium.
Kisumu All Starlets will host Vihiga Queens at the Moi
Stadium in Kisumu while Kibera Soccer Women’s will wrap up the fixtures with
Kisped Queens at Marist University Grounds.
Only one match will be played on Saturday pitting Trinity
Starlets and Gideon Starlets at Comboni Polytechnic Grounds.
However, two matches
have been placed mid-week with Police Bullets taking on Kisped Queens at Police
Sacco Stadium on Wednesday as Vihiga Queens host Madira Soccer Assassins later.
