Ulinzi coach Mufutu demands composure after Dumas defeat

The Soldiers had a mixed weekend, losing narrowly to fellow giants Equity Dumas 67-62 at Nyayo Gymnasium before bouncing back with a 64-49 victory over Moischers at USIU Grounds, Nairobi.

Mufutu admitted his side’s loss to Dumas was largely down to lapses in concentration and poor execution, but was pleased with the response against Moischers.

“Our first game against Dumas, the boys played well for the first two quarters and were competitive. However, I think we did not do a very good job of protecting our lead, and we eventually lost the game because of a lot of carelessness and missed baskets.

“We tried to correct those mistakes in our match against Moischers, and the boys played with more poise, made better decisions and executed better on both ends of the floor. We managed to secure the win against Moischers,” said Mufutu.

The split results saw Ulinzi move to 26 points from 17 matches, having won nine and lost eight, with five games remaining in the regular season.
