Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday participated in the TANA Forum Board Meeting in Accra, joining African leaders and policymakers in discussions on peace, governance and security challenges facing the continent.
Kenyatta attended the high-level session alongside distinguished
board members committed to advancing African-led solutions to regional
conflicts and governance issues.
The meeting was chaired by Ghanaian President John Dramani
Mahama and was also attended by Catherine Samba-Panza, Ethiopia’s State
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadera Abera, former Ethiopian State Minister and
former Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council Tekeda Alemu, PLO
Lumumba and Michelle Ndiaye.
“The TANA Forum remains a key continental platform for
shaping policy discussions on conflict prevention, democratic governance, and
regional stability,” a statement from Kenyatta’s office stated.
The former president arrived in Accra on Monday evening ahead of the high-level forum on security in Africa, where he was received by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Col (Rtd) Shem Ishmailidza Amadi.
Kenyatta joined the Tana Forum board in 2024, placing him
among former African presidents involved in the institution’s strategic
oversight.
His appointment came as he expanded his role in regional
peace processes, including assignments as an African Union peace envoy and
mediator, with engagements in the Horn of Africa and eastern Democratic
Republic of the Congo.
The Tana Forum brings together high-level decision-makers
and partners to exchange perspectives on peace and security challenges facing
the continent, while promoting African-led solutions to regional conflicts.
