Coastal leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Saturday held their fourth day of political mobilisation in Ganze, Kilifi County, rallying residents to back President William Ruto and the party’s development agenda.

The leaders said the sensitisation forums are part of a regional tour aimed at strengthening grassroots support at the Coast while highlighting what they described as the government’s development record under its economic agenda.

During the rally, the leaders cited ongoing and completed projects in Kilifi County, saying they are improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.

UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar urged residents to register as members of the party, saying UDA’s focus is on addressing long-standing social and economic challenges in the region. He also claimed the Coast has experienced improved stability compared to past periods marked by insecurity and tensions.

Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the Coast now has a stronger voice in national governance, arguing that the region’s representation in government has placed it at the centre of decision-making. He urged residents to continue backing the administration, saying the region stands to benefit from ongoing programmes.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi reiterated President Ruto’s earlier assurances that the support he received from the Coast would not be taken for granted, and said the national government remains committed to addressing historical development gaps in the region.

UDA deputy party leader Issa Timamy also said Coast leaders are increasingly united around the government’s development agenda and committed to ensuring the region benefits from national programmes.

The leaders further declared support for UDA gubernatorial aspirant Aisha Jumwa, urging residents to participate in party membership drives and calling for an open and competitive nomination process without zoning.

The mobilisation tour is expected to continue in Kwale County, as the leaders head into the fifth day of engagements.
