Speaking in Nairobi, the party's Secretary-General Hassan Omar said the constituency had traditionally been a Jubilee Party stronghold, adding that despite the loss, UDA remains strong in the Mt. Kenya region and is ready to forge ahead to the 2027 General Election.
"Unajua lakini Ile kiti ilikua ni ya Jubilee, Jubilee imepata kura 200. Na Uhuru Kenyatta alitoa support yake yote. So Jubilee lost heavily a seat they were holding and almost had no chance of defending it. UDA had a chance of recouping it. UDA will either not zone out or leave out or exclude anyone from our politics and we will not zone out or leave out any part of this country to our competitors," he stated.
"Even if the results were even worse, if there was another one again tomorrow, we'll do it again. So, if you tell us there's another election anywhere else in Mount Kenya West, we will still go there again. We'll do it again and again. We'll not run away."
His remarks come after Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho won the Ol Kalou by-election after garnering 35,440 votes, followed by UDA's Samuel Muchina Nyaga, who received 5,450 votes.
