Two vehicles burnt following Al Shabaab attack in Lamu

Two road construction vehicles were on Sunday burnt following an attack by suspected Al Shabaab militants at Milihoi on the Lamu-Garsen road.

Confirming the incident, Lamu Police Commissioner Irungu Macharia said the police engaged the militants in a gun battle before they (militants) eventually fled through the forest.

Macharia added that the militants attempted to invade a police camp situated adjacent to an establishment belonging to a road construction company.

The police boss further added that there were, however, no casualties from the incident.
