Two Ugandan teenagers, suspected dealer arrested in Ksh.5M Ruai bhang bust

Police in Kayole have seized a massive haul of cannabis sativa (bhang) worth an estimated Ksh.5 million and arrested three suspects - including two Ugandan juveniles and a suspected mastermind - following a successful night raid in Ruai.

The operation began when police officers on a routine foot patrol intercepted two 17-year-old Ugandan nationals, Arrius Waknata and Brian Namuonyo, who were behaving suspiciously.

A quick body search revealed they were carrying suspected narcotic drugs, prompting their immediate arrest.

Kayole sub county police commander Richard K. Siele said that during interrogation at the station, the two teenagers cooperated with detectives and provided crucial intelligence regarding the primary storage facility and source of the narcotics.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Mr. Obama, led a team of officers to an unmarked plot in Ruai.

The officers raided the residential house and conducted a search, which uncovered a large consignment of dry plant material weighing approximately 187 kilograms.

Police estimated the street value of the confiscated bhang at Ksh.5 million.

At the scene, authorities arrested 33-year-old Susan Omondi, who investigators believe is the main dealer behind the distribution ring.

All three suspects are currently being held in lawful custody pending their arraignment in court.

The recovered drugs have been secured as exhibits, and samples are scheduled to be forwarded to the Government Chemist for forensic analysis.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kayole has intensified investigations to map out the origin of the drugs, the supply chain, and the wider distribution network.
